Subject Overview: |
This subject aims to heighten general awareness of the Arabic language and to enhance the acquisition of Arabic, particularly in aural and oral communication skills. Students will be introduced to characteristics of communications strategies, and sociocultural aspects of the Arabic language. On completion of this subject, students should be able to conduct everyday conversations and manage classroom communication in Arabic with greater sociocultural awareness. |

Assessment: | Homework/continuous assessment (best 8 pieces) 15% (throughout the semester), class participation/presentation 15% (ongoing), a 15-minute aural/oral test 20% (due week 6) and a 30 minute aural.oral test 50% (during the examination period). |
