Subject Overview: |
This subject introduces students to the fundamentals of financial management and budgeting in arts organisations. Commencing with an examination of the three principal financial reports the subject takes students through the structure and the links between each as well as exploring the various accounts that are typically reported by those organisations. In the second half of the semester students examine the preparation and evaluation process of financial budgets in arts organisations. Specifically students address the budgeting process, budget preparation and the use of budgets as a financial control technique. |

Assessment: | An analytical assignment equivalent to 3000 words 60% (continuous throughout the semester), and an exam equivalent to 2000 words 40% (due at end of semester). Students must pass both assessment tasks to satisfactorily pass the subject. |
