Structure & Available Subjects:

The Modern Greek program combines the study of the Greek language, with particular emphasis on the spoken and written language of contemporary Greece, with the study of Greek literature, history, society and culture. First-year subjects combine these aspects, while later-year subjects provide students with the opportunity to pursue more particular areas of interest.

A major in Modern Greek usually consists of 112.5 points comprising:

  • first-year subjects of Modern Greek (25 points); and

  • second-year subjects of Modern Greek (37.5 points); and

  • third-year subjects of Modern Greek (50 points).

* Please note from 2009 all Modern Greek subjects will be taught at Latrobe University, Bundoora Campus.

Students who commenced their degree before 2007 will need to complete 125 points toward this major in order to complete the major. For the specific major structure you must follow, refer to the handbook produced in the year you commenced your degree, available online at https://psc.unimelb.edu.au/.
