Ethical issues arising in business are addressed from the standpoint of western moral philosophy. Topics covered include the ethical limitations of the corporation in capitalism; appropriate conduct in the workplace; consumer protection (advertising and packaging); a range of ethical considerations facing multinational corporations e.g., bribery and nepotism; and the crisis in the natural environment in relation to business activities. The subject will expose students to an intensive analysis of some fundamental theoretical aspects of western moral philosophy (including elements of Aristotle, Kant, Mill, and Rawls), and consider the above topics in relation to these ethical frameworks.

A 6000 word essay 80% and class presentation 20%.
