Time Commitment: Contact Hours: A 1-hour lecture and a 2-hour practical language class per week at the La Trobe Bundoora campus
Total Time Commitment: 3 contact hours/week , 5 additional hours/week. Total of 8 hours per week.
Prerequisites: MGRK10005 (LaTrobe-Greek Intermediate A) or equivalent.

Subject Overview: In this subject students learn to talk and write in Greek about a wide range of aspects of modern Greek culture and society in an informed and coherent manner, and to interpret short literary texts. Vocabulary and knowledge of grammar is systematically extended in the course of these readings and discussions.
Objectives:
  • be able to talk and write about a wide range of topics relevant to Modern Greek culture and society in an informed and coherent manner in Greek, and be able to interpret short authentic texts.
Assessment: Weekly assignments and class exercises of 1200 words 30% (due throughout the semester), a 500-word essay in Greek 15% (due at the end of semester), a 1-hour written test 25% (due at the end of semester), a 10-minute oral/aural test 10% (due mid-semester) and a 15-minute oral/aural test 20% (due at the end of semester).

  • be trained to communicate in a different linguistic and cultural code which should enhance their mental agility and their awareness of cultural diversity.
