Subject Overview:

Candidates prepare for performance a solo recital program of substantial works appropriate to the level of the degree. Programs should be of normal concert length (approx. 90 minutes of music) and should be designed around a unifying musical scheme.

This recital is normally given at the end of the second semester of the third year of candidature.

Objectives: On completion of this subject, students will be able to prepare and present a full-length solo recital on their instrument which conveys technical and musical command of the chosen repertoire at a professional level, as well as a significant level of interpretative independence and originality.
Assessment: This subject is marked on a Pass/Fail only basis.

A public performance under concert conditions of the works studied.

The program is expected to be performed from memory unless there are special reasons for exemption from this requirement.
