The minimum level of performance required for this ensemble would be equivalent to AMEB A. Mus. A. or a very high grade for VCE solo performance.

Subject Overview:

New Audience is dedicated to the performance of new music by student composers in the Faculty, Australian composers, and important works of the twentieth century. The ensemble is based around a core of flute, clarinet, violin, cello, voice, percussion and piano, however other instruments are welcomed. The ensemble has given many premieres and performed in a variety of venues including BMW Edge.

Objectives: On completion of this subject students should be able to:
  • show technical development as ensemble musicians
  • participate with ability and self-confidence as a team member of a performing group
  • perform selected repertoire to concert standard
  • identify and exhibit specific knowledge of a range of ensemble repertoire
  • exhibit an informed respect for the values and principles of ensemble performance.
Assessment: This subject is marked on a Pass/Fail only basis.

Assessment will be on a pass/fail basis and will be based on punctual attendance at and participation in all rehearsals and performances as directed (100%)

Less than 80% attendance will result in a fail.
