Subject Overview: | This subject provides students with an opportunity to read and listen to various types of authentic Japanese materials with some modification and learn to communicate on a wide range of topics. Students will learn100 kanji (Chinese characters) and will be introduced to various aspects of Japanese culture. Computer laboratory instruction will support the curriculum. |

Assessment: | Four in-class tests 15 minutes each, 20% (due throughout the semester), a written assignment 1000 words 20% (due mid-semester), 2-hour final examination 50%(examination period) and class participation 10%. |

Notes: | This subject is available at level one for students who are completing the advanced stream of Japanese. It is only available at level two for students completing the post-VCE stream of Japanese, and level three for beginners stream Japanese student. The prerequisite subject is also available at level 2 as 670-241 and level 3 as 673-364. |
