Subject Overview:

This subject is designed to prepare students for future higher degree research. It develops the capacity to question and critique current social work practice and to undertake and write up a piece of research.

Objectives:

At the completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • Critique research
  • Understand the tasks involved in carrying out research
Assessment:

A written thesis of 12 000 words (due at the end of semester).

On completion of this subject students should:

  • be able to think theoretically and apply theory to practice;

Students undertaking the three year program will commence the thesis in Semester 2 of third year and complete it in the Summer Semester of the following or fourth year. Students undertaking the accelerated program will commence the thesis in the Summer Semester of the third year and complete it in Semester 1 of the third year.
