Course Overview: | The purpose of these programs is to provide individuals from transport and logistics companies in Australia with an opportunity to complete formal education and training in the technical field of logistics. In particular the courses will focus on freight, transport and operational logistics techniques. Initial market research has indicated interest from General Manager through to middle management level in organisations such as Australia Post, Toll Holdings, Scott's Transport Group, Linfox, Star-track Express, Australian Air Express, Australian Railway Association Members, Australian Trucking Association Members, State and Federal Transport Regulators, and amongst other logistics professionals in general. |

Objectives: | The Graduate Certificate will equip graduates with: - The specific knowledge detailed in the course objectives for the Professional Certificate in Logistic Optimisation and the Professional Certificate in e-Logistics; - An understanding of the planning of distribution network restructuring; - Experience in the use of logistics planning and optimisation tools available for logistics planning and resource management; - Knowledge of the strategies logistics in support of e-Business and e-markets; - An understanding of the regulatory framework for road and rail transport, and the accreditations and certification processes currently in place in the logistics environment; - An understanding of the developments in green logistics certifications and accreditation schemes and how this has a marketing potential; - A capacity to use the basic financial methods used in logistics planning; - The ability to have significant input into the logistics planning and tendering development process through pricing and planning strategies; - Knowledge of how to articulate operational logistics principles; - Analytic and problem-solving skills for many aspects of day to day logistics operations and planning; - Sufficient knowledge of operational logistics so that more detailed study may be undertaken at the Masters level if so desired. |
Entry Requirements: | An undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification plus at least two years full-time relevant documented professional work experience, OR extensive relevant professional work experience which demonstrates a capacity to successfully undertake the course*. *Extensive relevant work experience will usually be characterised by the following: - At least 10 years minimum relevant work experience. - Continual advancement in career. - Professional experience in the area of logistics judged by the selection committee to be sufficient to enable the candidate to be successful in the course. |
