Professional Certificate in Logistic Optimisation

An understanding of the technical aspects of logistics and, where relevant, of their potential application to broader social questions including:

An understanding of certain high level methods of modal logistics optimisation;

An understanding of logistics network configurations, and of the benefits and disadvantages of restructuring, eg depot placement and numbers of mega and mini network centres;

An understanding of minimalist mathematical optimisation concepts used in business logistics;

An understanding of intermodal considerations in restructuring logistics networks.

A sufficient background in the general field of logistics to be able to direct their own further learning following completion of the course;

An ability to apply their knowledge of logistics in the workplace and other practical settings;

An ability to articulate their knowledge to other company organisational divisions and industry;

An ability to apply their knowledge of logistics in ways which indicate an ability to think critically and independently, and apply analytic and problem-solving skills.

Students will complete the following;

An undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification plus at least two years full-time relevant documented professional work experience,

OR

Extensive relevant professional work experience which demonstrates a capacity to successfully undertake the course*.


*Extensive relevant work experience will usually be characterised by the following:

- At least 10 years minimum relevant work experience.
- Continual advancement in career.
- Professional experience in the area of logistics judged by the selection committee to be sufficient to enable the candidate to be successful in the course.
