Kate MacNeillSubject Overview: | This subject introduces the general framework of Australia's legal system. It then focusses on three areas relevant to all cultural sectors: contract, copyright and negligence. Aspects of trade practices law and corporations legislation will also be examined. A range of other issues may be covered in outline, including the limits imposed on artistic expression by defamation law and censorship. |

Assessment: | Written work comprising of up to 3 exercises totalling 1500 words 30% (throughout semester). A take-home exam equivalent to 1500 words 30% (due at end of semester), and a written research paper of 2000 words 40% (due at end of semester). |
