Subject Overview:

PhD students enrol in this single full-time continuous subject offered by the School of Dental Science. The subject requires students to undertake challenging and rewarding research with one of the School's five sections. Research projects are also available as part of the School's role in the Co-operative Research Centre for Oral Health Science (CRCOHS).

Current CRCOHS research programs are:

  • Programme One: Oral Health Informatics
  • Programme Two: Novel Diagnostics, Vaccines and Pharmaceuticals
  • Programme Three: Nutraceutical Development
  • Programme Four: Advanced Materials and Technologies
  • Programme Five: Product Development and Clinical Trials

The CRCOHS is an expanding and exciting research organisation that provides many opportunities for developing your skills and talents as a research scientist in the rapidly advancing field of oral health science. In addition to the CRCOHS research programmes, other projects are conducted in the sections of the School that are funded through various grant organisations such as the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). The five sections of the School are:

  • Population Oral Health & Periodontics
  • Growth & Development
  • Oral Biology
