Professor Merrill SingerSubject Overview: | This subject involves the study of selected key issues in the field of development studies. It is intended that the subject will assist students in broadening their understanding of development processes and update their knowledge of current debates amongst development theorists and practitioners. This will be achieved by students taking intensive one-off courses offered by either visitors or staff with special expertise. The topic for this intensive subject is drug use, HIV and development. |

Assessment: | An oral presentation of 10-15 minutes, followed by submission of a 2000 word paper on the same topic as the presentation 40% (due at the end of the teaching period); and a 3000 word major essay 60% (due early September). |
