Postgraduate Diploma in Arts (Indonesian)

The postgraduate diploma allows students to undertake a research project in a specialist field of study. Students will gain considerable knowledge in an area of Indonesian studies and engage in critical assessment of the major theoretical claims of the discipline. The course provides a pathway to higher degree research for students who have not completed a four year BA (Honours) with a research component in Indonesian studies.

Students who complete the postgraduate diploma should:

• consolidate advanced language skills in standard Indonesian;
• demonstrate a capacity to conduct independent research under supervision;
• acquire related knowledge and skills in the field of Indonesian and Malaysian studies.

• Thesis 12,000 words (37.5 points)

• Three compulsory subjects (37.5 points)

• Two elective subjects (25 points)

1. The Selection Committee will evaluate the applicant’s ability to pursue successfully the course using the following criterion –

• an undergraduate degree with a major (100 credit points) in Indonesian or a cognate discipline with a grade average of H2B 70% in the major, or equivalent;

2. The Selection Committee may conduct interviews or tests and may call for referee reports and employer references to elucidate any of the matters referred to above.
