Course Overview: The Graduate Certificate in Arts (Anthropology and Development) provides students with a general understanding of key concepts in Anthropology and Development Studies. Students undertaking this short and concentrated program of study develop valuable skills of analysis and critique. The certificate is an entry point to an articulated structure of higher degree study in Anthropology and Development Studies.

Objectives:

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma should:

  • develop knowledge of one or more area in the study of Anthropology and Development;
  • understand the main theories and concepts relating to these areas of study;
  • develop the skills of critical analysis in relation to the connection between anthropology as a discipline and development studies
  • demonstrate an advanced understanding of the international context and sensitivities of Anthropology in relation to development

  • an undergraduate degree in any discipline
