Subject Overview:

This subject is undertaken across 6 semesters of candidature.

Students wishing to complete their Composition Major on a full-time basis (over 3 semesters) enrol in subject 740-623 Composition Major (Full Time) instead of 740-632.

Candidates must prepare a folio containing:

  • A minimum of two original compositions in different media totalling no less than 50 minutes in duration.
  • A CD recording of a performance of at least one work written during the period of candidature.
Learning Outcomes: Students completing this subject should expect to have developed the technical and creative skills of music composition.
Assessment:

Candidates must submit three copies of the folio within the period of candidature for examination pursuant to Statute 12.5.1.

The folio will be examined using the procedures used for theses pursuant to Statutes 12.1 and 12.5.
