Recommended Background Knowledge:

Students who successfully engage in this subject are familiar with (i) evaluation fundamentals, including its basic theory, nature and purposes, language, and logic; and (ii) research fundamentals as they apply in evaluation. Completing EDUC90850 Foundations of Evaluation and EDUC90848 Applied Research for Evaluation or EDUC90713 Program Evaluation: Forms and Approaches before or concurrently with this subject is recommended.

Subject Overview:

This subject focuses on connecting theory to evaluation practice. Topics include: evaluation-specific tools and methods; planning, conducting and managing evaluations; stakeholder engagement strategies; and evaluation reporting.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Apply evaluation theory to planning an evaluation

  • Develop and justify an evaluation design

  • Assess quality in evaluation practice

Assessment:
  • Major assessment (2000 words) due in week 8 (40%)
  • Minor assessment (1500 words) due in week 4 (30%)
  • Exercises (3-8) (1500 words) ongoing (30%)
