Subject Overview:

This subject will examine contemporary garden design and design practice in Australia. Content will include investigation of design approaches and methods, introduction to graphic techniques, types of design drawings and documentation for design. Students will be required to design for a site, interact with a client , develop a design brief and graphically communicate a concept design solution

Learning Outcomes:

On Completion of this subject, students should be able to:

* Describe contemporary garden design discourse;

* Demonstrate knowledge of the design process through use of relevant documentation

* Explore design solutions for a landscape site;

* Discuss different graphic communication techniques; and

* Research and manage complex information for design purposes.

Assessment:
  • A portfolio of work equivalent to 2000 words - 40%
  • 15 minute oral presentation - 10%
  • 4 x drawing skills/palette assignments, each equivalent to 250 words - 4 x 10%
  • 1 x concept plan for design report, equivalent to 1000 words - 10%
