Subject Overview:

Students write, direct, animate and a short production completed to a professional broadcast standard. This subject includes advanced studies in applied animation techniques and research and development for the student production. Students will go further into character and world design, animation performance, animation tests, animation direction, working with actors and composers that will mirror professional practice.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:-

  • Take an idea through script development to all facets of screen production relevant to an animated production;
  • Complete an animation production to a professional level of international standing;
  • Demonstrate development in their creativity, innovation and technical skills expressed through production exercises.
Assessment:
  • PRE-PRODUCTION FOLIO (Equivalent to 4000 Words) - Semester 1, Week 7 (20%)
  • SCREENPLAY AND STORYBOARD (Equivalent to 4000 Words) - Semester 1, Week 10 (20%)
  • PRODUCTION EXERCISE (2- 5 minutes) (Equivalent to 8000 Words) - End of Semester 2 (40%)
  • PRODUCTION REPORT (Equivalent to 1500 Words) - End of Semester 2 (10%)
  • WORKSHOP PARTICIPATION: assessed on criteria of engagement, ability to discuss feedback and collaborate with other students - Ongoing (10%)
