Subject Overview:

Students will be required to write a thesis of 12 000 words on a topic approved by the supervisor. They will also be required to present a seminar paper on the results of their research.
Learning Outcomes:
  • acquire the skills to search for and critically evaluate materials and present the results in a scholarly format.
  • be able to evaluate different methodological approaches to social and intellectual problems and
  • be able to discuss social and cultural phenomena analytically.
Assessment:

A thesis of 12 000 words on Arabic language, linguistics, literature, or another appropriate topic in Arabic studies 100% (due at the end of the second semester of enrolment).

Please note this thesis subject is currently being phased out and is only available to students who commenced their Honours/PD-Arts program prior to 2013. Students wishing to enrol in Honours/PD-Arts from 2013 will need to enrol in a 50 point thesis subject as per the course requirements for BH-Arts & PD-Arts.
