Course Overview:

There are no current intakes for this course.

The Master of Choreography (by Research) allows students to further develop their knowledge and skills in the area of choreography.

The course comprises public performances of created work/s, of approximatly 40 minutes in total (performance realisation), supported and complemented by a 15,000 word research paper. The student will be required to arrange for a company/organisation within the dance industry to agree to perform the created works.

Learning Outcomes:

The objectives of this course are:

  • to extend skills and expertise in the chosen field of research in choreography;
  • to advance the understanding of dance creative processes in the chosen field of choreography;
  • to develop appropriate skills in dance literacy for the documentation, description and analysis of dance creative processes;
  • to make a significant contribution to learning in dance practice and choreographic practice in Australia;
  • to be able to contribute substantially to Australian dance culture through research skills and knowledge developed through the course.

Prerequisites

Applicants are required to have a Postgraduate Diploma in Choreography, or equivalent, at least at H2B (70%) level across the degree and H1 in Independent Project B or equivalent. The Selection Committee may conduct interviews for each short-listed applicant and may call for referee reports and employer references to elucidate any of the matters referred to above.

  • manage information effectively including the application of computer systems and software where appropriate to the field of study;
  • exhibit a profound respect for truth and intellectual integrity and for the ethics of professional creative practice.
