Overview:

The Art History program is the premier provider of art historical scholarship in Australia. Thematic and interdisciplinary subjects deal with the theories of art history, art and the market, prints, and other issues. Areas of specialisation include late antiquity, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, 18th and 19th century European art, modernism and postmodernism, contemporary art, Indigenous Australian art, and international art.

Structure & Available Subjects:

Art History is available as both a major and minor sequence in the BA.

A major in Art History consists of eight 12.5-point subjects, totalling 100 points, comprising:

  • 37.5 points of level 2 Art History Subjects

Level 3

  • The capstone subject Art History in the World
  • 25 points of level 3 History subjects.

Total 100 points

A minor in Art History comprises six 12.5-point subjects, totalling 75 points, comprising:

  • 25 points of level 2 Art History Subjects

Level 3

  • 25 points of level 3 Art History Subjects

Total 75 points

The capstone subject is not available in the minor or as breadth studies outside the BA.
