Subject Overview:

This course provides keyboard skills for non-pianists and develops accompaniment skills for pianists. Students will examine intervals, chords, scales, chord symbols, common harmonic progressions, common song forms and sight-reading with a view to practical execution on the keyboard. While much of this material is also covered in the Aural Studies and Musicianship classes, the Keyboard class enables students to consolidate these materials in a workshop environment. The class is structured so that students can work through the material at their own pace, presenting each module for individual testing.
