This subject considers the evolution of plants, their structure and function, how they reproduce, and their adaptations to particular environments.

Upon completion of this subject, students will have an understanding of:

• cellular organisation and transport mechanisms in plants;
• plant tissues;
• photosynthesis and respiration;
• typical plant growth patterns;
• reproduction in the plant kingdom; and
• plant adaptations to particular environments.

Attendance at practical classes and assessments of practical workbook (15% of final mark), one mid-semester 1 hour written theory examination (15%), one mid-semester practical test (15%), one final 2 hour written examination (40%) and one final 1 hour practical test (15%).
