Seminars are offered at second year level. Second year students attend a one-hour seminar per week selected from an available pool of approximately 18 seminar topics. Most seminars in semester one are repeated in second semester.

• To offer each student the opportunity to enhance his or her critical, analytical, research, literacy and presentation skills.
• To offer each student the opportunity for cross-disciplinary collaborative encounters and practice.

Contribution and participation in seminar activities (25%). Written work 1500 words (75%). Hurdle requirement - 80% attendance.

Some seminars have a reader available for purchase from the Student Centre.

At the completion of the subject students should be able to:

• demonstrate capacities for artistic imagination, creativity, transformation and interpretation;
• demonstrate a flexible and innovative approach to the national and international challenges for the professional visual artist in the 21st century, and
• demonstrate an open, independent and inquiring attitude towards contemporary cultural developments and new ideas.
