Admission to the Master of Arts & Cultural Management, Master of Art Curatorship, Master of Cinema Management, Master of Arts & Cultural Management (Moving Image).

Subject Overview:

This subject provides an opportunity for students to prepare a project management plan for an arts-based project (e.g. an exhibition, a festival, etc.) in order to develop their project management skills. Students will focus on the creative elements and programming of the project as well as budgeting, ticketing and funding options.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion students will have:

  • developed project management skills;
  • extended their understanding of financial management issues as they relate to projects and arts organisations;
  • acquired a knowledge of key issues in ticket pricing and sourcing project funding; and
  • gained an understanding of the development and presentation of creative content.
Assessment:

Written work of 5000 words in total. The projects are group-based with corresponding individual assessment consisting of a 1000 word proposal 20% (due early in the semester), and a 4000 word major assignment 80% (due at the end of the semester). Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of classes in order to qualify to have their written work assessed. All required written work must be submitted in order to pass the subject.
