Overview:

The Postgraduate Diploma program in the Department of Otolaryngology aims to provide students with the skills required to carry out research related to the function of the auditory system and the clinical treatment of hearing loss.
Objectives:

Students will develop abilities to:

  • critically analyse research literature;
  • formulate research plans based on hypotheses and statistical requirements;
  • present and defend research results; and
  • write a coherent research report.
Structure & Available Subjects:

The Otolaryngology program consists of:

  • Advanced Coursework (25 points)
  • Research Project (75 points)

Content: An original, independent research project on a hearing-related topic of science or biomedicine conducted under the supervision of an academic mentor (research project); Lectures, tutorials and seminars covering a diverse range of hearing-related and biomedical research topics (advanced coursework).

Assessment: A written literature review (3000 words), research report (12,000 words), oral presentations, and short assignments.
