Subject Overview:

Topics covered include principles and methods of choral development and organization, including tone, diction, rehearsal techniques, choral placement and repertoire.

Objectives:

On completion of this subject, students should be able to:

  • Rehearse and conduct a short choral work with confidence;
  • Grade and evaluate suitable choral repertoire; and
  • Manage a structured choral program.
Assessment:

Practical test (80%); folio of graded repertoire and rehearsal resources (10%); and class participation (10%).

Prescribed Texts: A reading pack with relevant musical examples will be distributed prior to the first class.
