Subject Overview: This subject is made up of two components: Aural and Choral Studies. This subject is designed to introduce students to the fundamental principles of aural comprehension and to develop a strong grounding in those principles. The student will examine intervals, harmonic progressions, textures, timbres and basic acoustic principles. There will be a strong emphasis on rhythmic development. Listening and notational activities will involve singing, clapping and the use of the student’s own instruments.
