Subject Overview: The study of the evolution, functions and purpose of dance in human societies. The contextual study of dance as an art form in Western Culture in the 20 th-21 st centuries, with particular focus on the choreographic and pedagogical developments in classical ballet and contemporary dance.
Objectives:

Assessment: Participation and contribution in tutorials (50%); an essay of 2,000 words (50%).
