Subject Overview:
  1. Project management concepts including feasibility studies based on triple bottom line, project financing, strategic planning, cash flow and cost control, environmental/social considerations, standards and practices.
  2. Estimating and tendering engineering construction works, including work breakdown structures, work method statements, risk identification and tendering principles.
  3. Detailed study of contract documents for design and construction including various party responsibilities and authorities and contract administration.
  4. Human resource skills including emplyment agreements and Occupational Health and Safety practices.
Objectives:

On completion of this subject, students should have gained an understanding of the project and construction management aspects involved with the delivery of an engineering structure.

Assessment:
  • One 3-hour end of semester examination (70%)
  • One 4000 word assignment (30%)
