Time Commitment: Contact Hours: Regular meetings with the supervisor over two consecutive semesters of enrolment
Total Time Commitment: An average of 10 hours each week
Prerequisites: Admission to the postgraduate diploma or fourth-year honours in gender studies.
Corequisites: None
Recommended Background Knowledge: Knowledge gained in an undergraduate degree with at a minor in Gender Studies or related field.

Subject Overview:

A Thesis of 12,000 words will be researched and written on an approved topic selected in consultation with the convener of gender studies.

Objectives:

At the successful completion of this project students should

  • have gained increased powers of independent inquiry.
  • show initiative in self-directed research.
Assessment: A thesis of 12,000 words 100% (due in the second semester of enrolment).
Prescribed Texts: Texts will be determined in consultation with the Thesis supervisor
