Subject Overview: This subject covers:
  • basic concepts of bioengineering and signal processing;
  • introduction to the measurement of evoked potentials and their analysis; and
  • introduction to vestibular function testing.

Assessment: 20%: Two written assignments; 80%: Two-hour written examination.

Generic Skills: On completion of this subject students should be able to:
  • apply knowledge obtained in the subject to determine appropriate electrophysiological assessment techniques for patients;
  • critically evaluate published material concerning electrophysiological assessment techniques;
  • critically evaluate electrophysiological assessment protocols that are developed after completion of the course; and
  • apply skills gained in obtaining solutions to unfamiliar problems.
