Subject Overview:

This subject will introduce students to the principles that underpin the use of critical reflection and reflective practice in early childhood classrooms and in the design, implementation and evaluation of early childhood curriculum. It will explore the concepts of critical reflection and reflective practice and their relationship to early childhood teaching and learning and to curriculum development and innovation. It will provide students with strategies for creating and sustaining critically reflective teaching in early childhood classrooms. Students will undertake project work that will serve as a vehicle through which to introduce the theory and practice of critical reflection and provide a background against which students can critically reflect on their own teaching.
