Subject Overview: This subject utilises a problem-based learning approach and will build on knowledge and skills developed in earlier subjects. It will equip students to take on leadership roles, in particular with ICT, in schools. Topics covered will be selected from integrating computers into classroom activities; planning for ICT use for schools and classrooms (including budgeting); planning for teachers’ professional learning; and ICT strategic planning for schools. Teams will take on the role of a school’s ICT Committee and prepare reports and recommendations as if for the principal and School Council and will present their recommendations at mock school council meetings.
Objectives: On completion of this subject teacher candidates will have demonstrated that they can work in teams to analyse and evaluate ICT needs of classrooms and schools, to determine goals for the classroom or school, and create plans to achieve these goals.
Assessment: There are 3 assessment tasks:
  • Individual reflection tasks (1000 words) due throughout the semester (25%)
  • Individual problem (800 words) due end of semester (20%)
  • Report & Presentations on Team problems (2200 words) due throughout the semester (55%)
There is 1 hurdle requirement:
  • Report on school council meeting
