Course Overview:
The graduate certificate provides a flexible option for graduates and those with extensive industry experience to attain a base knowledge of Criminology. For those with an undergraduate degree, it provides an accessible means to begin study in Criminology as an entry point to further study (Graduate Diploma or Masters of Criminology)
Objectives:


Students who complete the graduate certificate will gain, depending on choice of subjects, a general understanding of:

  • key concepts, issues, approaches and debates in the field of Crime Policy, Law Enforcement or Crime Prevention;
  • the functions of relevant institutions (eg. policy bodies, police, other relevant regulatory authorities and courts);
  • ways to assess the objectives and effectiveness of relevant policies, strategies and programs.
Course Structure & Available Subjects:
  • one first year subject (12.5 points)
  • one compulsory subject (12.5 points)
  • two elective subjects (25 points)

Total 50 points - subjects are 12.5 points each, unless indicated otherwise.

Entry Requirements:
The minimum entry requirement is:
  • an undergraduate degree in any discipline

or

  • at least five years of documented relevant professional or work experience*

*for students who complete the graduate certificate without an undergraduate degree or equivalent, the certificate is a terminating degree
Referee reports to assess the applicant's eligibility may be required.
