Overview:

Honours in music history must be combined with another area of study within the Faculty of Arts.

The minimum entry requirement for music history honours is:

  • completion of all the requirements for the BA;
  • a major in music history which must include the subject Musicological Research Methods 1; and
  • an average grade over the second/third year subjects within the major equivalent to at least an H2B (70%).

Students undertaking combined honours in music history must complete:

  • Dissertation (37.5 points); and
  • Two musicology studies subjects (25 points); and
  • Three honours subjects in the combined area of study (37.5 points).

or

  • Honours thesis in the combined area of study (37.5 points); and
  • Two honours subjects in the combined area of study (25 points); and
  • Three musicology studies subjects (37.5 points).
