Course Overview: The postgraduate certificate provides an entry point to an articulated structure of higher degree study and may qualify graduates for entry to the postgraduate diploma.

Objectives: Students who complete the postgraduate certificate should:
  • develop skills in reading as well as oral and written communication in Hebrew through class exercises and assignments;
  • develop an awareness of and sensitivity to cultural and social difference;
  • develop research skills in discovering relevant critical material for assessment;
  • gain an understanding of politics, history, social and literary works and events as they relate to Jewish Culture;
  • develop time management skills in organising workload.

  • The remaining subjects to be chosen from the list of electives below.
Total 50 points - subjects are 12.5 points each, unless indicated otherwise.

Entry Requirements:

The minimum entry requirement is:

  • an undergraduate degree with a major in Jewish studies or cognate discipline a grade average of H2B (70%) or equivalent in the major
or
  • a Graduate Diploma in Arts (Jewish studies) with a grade average equivalent to an H2B (70%) average at the University of Melbourne.
