Course Overview:

The postgraduate diploma allows students to undertake a research project in a specialist field of study. Students will gain considerable knowledge in an area of Jewish studies and engage in critical assessment of the major theoretical claims of the discipline. The course provides a pathway to higher degree research for students who have not completed a four year BA (Honours) with a research component in Jewish studies.

Objectives:

Students who complete the postgraduate diploma should:

  • acquire intensive and high level training in language studies to enable them to continue with research at higher degree levels;
  • develop critical and intellectual approaches to Hebrew and related areas of studies;
  • gain specialised knowledge and advanced level research skills in areas of particular interest within the discipline of Jewish Studies.

Entry Requirements:

The minimum entry requirement is:

  • an undergraduate degree with a major in Jewish studies or cognate discipline a grade average of H2B (70%) or equivalent in the major
or
  • a Graduate Diploma in Arts (Jewish studies) with a grade average equivalent to an H2B (70%) average at the University of Melbourne.
