Course Overview:

The graduate certificate provides students with a general understanding of key concepts and issues in European studies. Students undertaking this short and concentrated program of study will develop valuable skills of analysis and critique. The certificate is an entry point to an articulated structure of higher degree options in European studies and related areas. The program assumes intermediate level language training in French, German, Italian or Swedish. Students with other European language experience are advised to consult the course coordinator.

Objectives:

Students who complete the graduate certificate should:

  • demonstrate a knowledge of one or more areas in the study of European studies;
  • understand the main theories and concepts relating to the area of study;
  • appreciate the significance of these ideas and issues in the context of European studies as an area of study;
  • develop skills of analysis in relation to specific areas of European studies.

Entry Requirements: The minimum entry requirement is:
  • an undergraduate degree in any discipline.
